TaylorMade R11 Driver Reviews

Performance The driver I tested in the Miles of Golf Cluboratory™ was the 9 degree R11 with the stock 60 gram X flex Fujikura Blur shaft. After adjusting to the different appearance of the club, the driver felt very comfortable in my hands. taylormade r11 driver specs The Blur shaft feels stable throughout the swing and through impact. I first tested the driver with a neutral setup. The sole plate was set to neutral, the hosel was set to neutral, and the weight was in the heel, which is how it comes off of the shelf. The second setting I tested the driver in was all left. taylormade r11 driver shafts The hosel was set in the Higher position or closed, the sole plate was set to closed and the heavy weight was in the heel. The third test was with the driver in the all right position, the hosel was in the lower position or open, the sole plate was set to open, and the heavy weight is in the toe. The performance data from a TrackMan™ launch monitor in the Miles of Golf Cluboratory™ was as follows: Ball Speed Launch Angle Spin Rate Distance Side Dispersion Neutral 166.7 (mph) 10.6 (deg) 3175 (rpm) 293.6 (yds) 6.3 yds left Closed (high) 166.7 9.3 3121 291.4 33.5 yds left Open (low) 169.2 10.0 2990 301.6 1.2 yds left Custom Fit 170.9 8.5 2690 307.4 6.1 yds right The launch angle changed 2 deg. for me between the neutral setting that launched the highest and the custom fit driver that launched the lowest. The direction also changed significantly between the different settings. With the driver in the full closed position, I averaged 33 yards left of the centerline. My natural shot with a driver is a draw to begin with and this just exaggerated it. There isn’t much difference between the Neutral and the Open positions for me in terms of direction, they are within 6 yards of each other, however there is a difference in speed and spin. The Open (low) position did launch 2.5mph faster than the neutral setting because of efficiency. Since my tendency is to shut the face down, an open face with the heavy weight out on the toe actually helped me keep the face square to my path creating a more solid shot and more ball speed. taylormade r11 driver for sale The reason the open setting spun 200 rpm’s lower than the neutral setting is because of the lower effective loft on the open driver. As the clubface is opened, the effective loft is lowered if the clubface is delivered back taylormade r11 driver shop to square. The Closed (high) setting just went left for me. I think this setting will be great for people who have issues with a fade, or dare I say a slice. The final set-up was custom fit for me. I replaced the stock X flex shaft with a Mitsubishi Diamana Kaili 80 X. The shaft weighs 81 grams and has a very low 2.8 deg. of torque. The heavier, stiffer shaft helped lower my spin rate down to 2690rpms and straightened out the ball flight, creating a more penetrating flight that increased my total distance. As you can see, there is a lot of flexibility in the setup of the TaylorMade R11 driver. It is imperative that this be correct for the driver to perform well for a player. Custom fitting the R11 driver to my swing helped dramatically. Having a club fit in the Miles of Golf Cluboratory™ is always a good idea, but with this club and all of its variables it is critical. Tech Specs The TaylorMade R11 driver comes in two different configurations like all TaylorMade drivers, a standard version and a Tour Preferred (TP) model. There is no difference between the heads, however the TP driver has a premium shaft. The TP shaft list is extensive and offers all types of shafts with different weights, torques, flexes, and bend profiles to custom fit all different types of golfers. The stock shaft is a proprietary Fujikura Blur shaft weighing in at 60 grams. The shaft has a medium-low torque of 3.5 degrees and creates a mid to mid-high launch. This is the shaft that was used for my testing. The available lofts are 8*, 9*, 10.5*, and 12*. As noted above, the loft can be adjusted as much as one degree in either direction to raise or lower ball flight and adjust spin up to 1000 rpm’s. I personally saw a 500 rpm difference in testing. The length of the driver is 45¾” for the stock driver and 45” for the TP. Summary taylormade r11 driver launch  The R11 driver has been one of our most successful drivers in 2011 and we’re expecting sales to continue based on appearance, adjustability, and performance. The 100 yards of claimed adjustability will allow us to completely customize the driver for individuals of all swing types. I personally experienced about 40 yards of left to right movement and the adjustments really do make a difference in altering ball flight. If you’re a golfer who wants the ultimate in adjustability and ball flight optimization, then this driver should be high on your shopping list. customer reviews
broombroom:The taylormade r11 is a bit of a hit and miss for some people mainly because of the white face.  I don't own this club I just demoed it.  The customization you get on this club is probably the most you can get on any club at the minute which is a plus.  It is nice and forgiving too on off hits and it makes a nice sound.  Distance wise it is what you would expect. It won't go miles further than your current driver but a just a noticeable bit.  I really was put of the white head I really don't like it which for me has put me off buying it.  It attracts soo much unwanted attention and is a distraction to swing.  The stock shaft was ok in it but because the titleist 910 is probably just as good if not better with the better stock shafts and cheaper price I think that may be a better option.

Buckeyegolf10:I purchased this driver after testing multiple drivers quite a few times. Had three good range sessions and two on course days with the club and liked it, so i went on with the purchase. I got the tp with a 9 degree and the fugikura blur stiff  tp 65g shaft. The college season just ended when i got this club so i had plenty of time to work with it and trust the club. Well its 8 months later and still haven't been able to trust it. I play to anywhere from a +1 handicap to a 1 and on easy swings its good but not long by any way for me, about 265 so i lost about 10-15 yards with a normal swing. Then trying to get a few extra yards is nearly impossible for me. I get a higher ball flight and no roll. I have tried other shaft options nothing has really worked. Now looking for a new driver.

TommyGunUK:
Bought this when my PGA Pro told me I needed a stiff shaft. Tried many clubs, including ping k15, titleist d3, titleist d2, callaway razr hawk, ping g15. This was the most consistent, and gave me the best ball shape.

originally I was put off by the adjustibality- I had images of myself forever playing with it blaming my bad golf on the wrong set up. taylormade r11 driver distance Once I got it set up though, I've never touched it.

I hear people say its not forgiving... what? my off centre hits go a long way, as far as my previous diablo octane (which was no slouch) but the centre hits are bombs.

It is a bit numb for feedback as others have mentioned.

Overall, the best driver I've ever used. Very Accurate.

Gioguy21:I was very skeptical of the hype of the R11 at first. I was also in the market this coming season for a new driver (swing changes, increased flexibility led to greater swing speed). After hitting up dick's sporting goods with my dad at lunch, I swung the new Callaway Razr Hawk, TaylorMade Superfast Burner 2.0, Nike Machspeed Black (round head), Nike VR Pro, Cobra ZL, Adams Speedline Fast10, and the TaylorMade R11. When all was said and done I went home with the new R11. I was averaging around 152 ball speed, 12* launch angle giving me around 270 on average off the tee with my farthest drive at 290 and my shortest at 262. ALL of them carried 250 or more. I cannot tell enough people about this thing. I was adjusted on my 9* R11 to +1* loft, 10g in the toe and 1g in the heel, neutral face. My single biggest upgrade I've put in the bag in over 3 years.

BigJoe:
I believe it is great to have a driver that you can actually tune taylormade r11 driver golf to an individual's exact game.   I hit a demo the 14th and was blown away with the ball coming off the face.  I have a ruptured disc in my lower back and was only swinging with my arms.  I put my body behind one and jumped it out past the 250 yard mark.  Every time I hit the ball it was either dead center or just a little off.  I offered to buy the demo.

I came back the taylormade r11 driver buy next day when the clubs were in and picked one up.   Again I have a ruptured disc so I did not swing the R11 until yesterday in warm up before a captain's choice.   My first drive was 289 yards.  Every drive was 250-291.  We played my ball repeatedly yesterday.  A playing partner called it the best golf investment that I have ever made.   The kicker is I did not adjust anything.  Right out of the box.  It was a very windy day in the Richmond Va area.  Actually, it was some of the windiest conditions I have ever played in.
We won the tournament.  Partly do to the driving and a lot of good puts were made and chips that fell.

TaylorMade R11 Irons Specifications

For the R11 club review, TaylorMade sent me an “off the rack” PW, 7I and 5I with the stock KBS 90 shafts. I’ve got to say I was waiting with bated breath for these bad boys to arrive, after watching the presentation and reading about the new clubs, I was pretty pumped about the irons.
If I had to summarize these clubs in one sentence, I’d say they were a perfect blend of the Tour Preferred and Burner Irons. From the Tour Preferred the R11 Irons took the control, feel, sound (with solid contact) and aesthetics whilst the Burner irons provided the forgiveness and increased COR and MOI (Moment of Inertia a property of physics that indicates the relative difference in how easy or difficult it will be to set any object in motion).

I’ve always played with the game improvement category of irons and was really impressed at the feedback provided by the R11 Irons. You can feel, pretty accurately, where you made contact with the ball and when you hit it solid, you’re rewarded with a deep appealing audible indicator that seems to say “You’re going to like that one.“  On the flip side, however, mishits have more of a hollow “thwack” sound that is not at all appealing.
Distance from the R11 Irons was a bit of a let down for me, on average, I didn’t gain any significant yardage over my Burners. I was hoping with the deeper center of gravity and the precision weight port that I’d see at least an additional club length in distance, but alas, tis not to be.

HPUgolf: I'm trying to see what driver I should get. Its between the R11 and the Burner superfast 2.0. I know what both of them offer but I dont know if getting the r11 is worth the more, taylormade sponsorship money im gonna spend on it. Any thoughts?

Suge206 :Hit them.  Doesn't matter what anybody thinks other than you.  I knew immediatley that  the 2.0 was the one and the R11 was not for me.  You may be the opposite.

Frito67:Give them both a decent hit then you can judge whether it's worth the extra money to get the R11 if thats the one you prefer. Everyones going to have their own personal preference, what works for one won't work for another. Personally il take recommendations from people on clubs to try out but would never buy anything without trying it first.

With the recent price drops this might be a relevant thread again so I figured I would post my driver shopping experience today.
I don't swing very hard (around 83 on average and maybe upper 80's if the stars align with my swing, full turn, good release etc.).  Also I am 5' 4" so longer clubs tend to scare me, lol

I hit the following on 2 different monitors today.

R11 - 12*; closed setting on sole plate; 1 deg of loft added  - My average distance was about 187 - longest 210
SF 2.0 HT 13*  - I was seeing about 203 average and even got a couple out to 230 when I made perfect contact, taylormade r11 irons specs.
230 is very very long for me.

erock9174 :I normally get all my shafts cut down to 43"-44" range but not this time. I will just grip down so I am not fooling around and messing up the swing weight.  If I get it to the course and it becomes a slice monster I will probably have it reshafted with a shaft that plays a little shorter, taylormade r11 irons price.

The TaylorMade R11 Irons combine the distance and forgiveness found in the Burner 2.0 along with the feel and precision of the Tour Preferred line. The R11s are designed for the player who favours a traditional blade but appreciates the near effortless ease needed to launch the ball high, long and straight, taylormade r11 irons vs burner 2.0.

Historically, irons engineered with multiple game-improvement technologies are big, inelegant and clunky, with thick toplines, broad soles and busy-ugly cavities. Typically, they can feel harsh and sound high-pitched and “clicky”. The TaylorMade R11 iron breaks that mold and rewrites the book about what a high-technology iron can look like, feel like and sound like, taylormade r11 irons release date.
